This week as been quite adventurous. Besides the VBS, we've gotten to clean windows, paint the trim on a house, clean the church after VBS, pull weeds, and rake up dead vegetation in the local cemetery. It hasn't all been fun and games though.
Wednesday morning we went on a 4.5 mile hike through the dessert mountains to Rhyolite, a genuine ghost town with a population of One. In 1908 there were over 8,000 residence. www.rhyolitesite.com It was a crazy place.
Yesterday was spent in Death Valley. www.nps.gov/deva The pastor here is also a park Ranger. So we got to see and learn a lot. Too much to even attempt to describe. We were there for ten hours and still didn't get to see everything.
Also in Death Valley is a place called Scotty's Castle. It's a 36 room house designed like a Spanish castle. It was built in the 1920's and is beautiful.
All three places are definitely worth going to if your ever in the area.
